This fall / early winter we will be sending out nominations for the Chapter’s Board of Trustees.  We have traditionally had 9 Trustees but hope to increase our Board to a maximum of 12.  The driving force behind the desire to increase is our expansive geographic range.   Ideally we would like to have 2 to 3 Trustees from each of our four regional areas. This will help ensure that all the regions are adequately represented and actively engaged.  Six Trustee positions are available with three of those positions held by current Trustees up for re-election.

Regional Areas:

• West:  Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap
• North:  Island, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, Whatcom
• Central:  King, Pierce, Snohomish
• South:  Chehalis, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, Thurston

A Trustee term is 3 years, and a Trustee is only allowed to serve for 6 consecutive years.  We have monthly meetings but because of our geographic dispersion we take advantage of teleconferences for most of our meetings with occasional face-to-face meetings where we can enjoy a meal together and catch up a bit before getting down to business. A Trustee must be willing and able (and want) to host at least two social events a year and participate/assist in one major event a year.  A Trustee needs to bring a passion for making the Chapter the best it can be at serving our Alumni as well as current and future MIDN.  A Trustee should come with ideas and be not be afraid to challenge the status quo of how we “have always done things”…  The country, the Navy, our community is changing every day so we are always looking for fresh ideas and new energy.

Nomination forms received will be forwarded to our Chapter Board of Trustees and Officers for review prior to the vote at our December meeting.

New Trustees will be notified in December and begin their terms in Feb of 2020. One of the first orders of business will be to elect Chapter Officers (President, VP, Treasurer, and Secretary).
